For some time now, i’ve jealously watched Sorcerer, Spirit Masters and Rangers solo all sorts of Elite monsters, mostly in KHQ (Kaidan Headquaters) and LC (Lepharist Citadel). Both type of Elite give quite good XP (around 250-330k per kill, depending on your Energy of Repose…) While it takes a bit time to kill one, you also have the chance of nice drops, which in turn will help you to make some Kinah.
Now, for a Cleric, there’s a problem. The arsenal of ranged spells with no – or close to none – cast time is very limited, and you only have a single snare. While Rangers, SM’s and Sorc’s have more snares in their arsenal, they are intended as ranged damage dealers – the Cleric is a bit more problematic.
Prequesites
To start with, you need to make sure you have the Guardian Commando’s Chain Boots, which you can get as a quest reward for the quest [Group] Korumonerk in Danger. Worst case is, that you have to participate in a couple of KHQ grinds to get the boots quest item, and then buy those Krall Molars in case you don’t have enough.
It’s an investment into the future, so it’ll pay back. But the 20% speed boost for these boots is absolutely required anyway. Alternatively, you can grind 58k Abyss Points and get the 21% speed boost boots out of the Abyss. One of them, you simply MUST HAVE.
Next, make sure you have enough Consumables. Mana + Health Potions, as well as Healing Pots. Especially Mana potions is a MUST-HAVE for this.
So how do we do it ?
The principle is quite easy, but it requires patience, a bit of space and awareness of what’s going on around you. Then, too, you need certain skills:
The idea behind this is, to stay just in casting range of your target and put up Earth’s Wrath II + Chastitisement I, then run a bit away and snare the target using Root I. Now that the target is snared, go again tot the very edge of the range and use your long-cast time chain Smite IV + Thunderbolt IV on the target. Kite away until Root I is recharged, and snare the target again. Now it’s basically rhinse-repeat.
Pulling an Elite
Make sure you pick an area with enough space around you. Also note that as long as you have DOT (Damage Over Time) on the target, it’ll follow you around the map, and those elite’s follow you quite a bit. So, the pulling is quite simple..
1. Run up to the target Elite’s cast range
2. Cast Earth’s Wrath II + Chastitisement I
3. Run away. Keep an eye on the compass, the target behind you is marked there !
4. Cast Chastitisement I on recharge while pulling
5. Once you’ve reached your killing-area (with enough space), use Root I
6. Now you can kite, and use Earth’s Wrath II + Chastitisement I
7. Kite again, and use Root I
8. Cast Smite IV + Thunderbolt IV and kite again
9. Repeat at step 5
Be prepared, it’ll take about 5min to kill an elite Monster that way, but it’s good XP and fun. If you decide to go for KHQ Elite’s, you’ll also get the Krall Molar as drops, which you then can sell at the trade broker and get back the Kinah you initially spent.
KHQ Pull
The pull in KHQ is actually simple. Run in and try to avoid aggro. I’ve marked several locations on the map. First, you should bind the obelisk at the Observatory, in case you die, so you don’t have to run all the way back.
The pink area is a more or less free ground which would be your killing zone. You have plenty of space to kite and only few lower-level monsters that loose aggro easily should you add them.
The three red dots are guards – the first one can be bypassed by keeping on the left side, since the guard is located right. There’s one roaming guard, but the usually walks towards the one on the left, so no problem there.
Next is a set of Mamaki’s guardian the entrance, and you should fly down. There’s a space in which you can stop, before you have to turn right and go down the narrow path. Now, you see on the left is a small fence, and you can be ‘behind’ that fence and jump-glide around the next set of guards, without aggroing them. Carry on gliding down the path.
Now you should arrive in the area which is marked as ‘drag elite’s from here’. Pick any elite monster and begin your pull as described above.
Pull them out of the Mine, and you might aggro some of the guards, so be prepated to Dispell and Life-Potion as well as Flash of Recovery should you need it. Don’t stop until you are clear outside, and remember to keep Chastitisement I on your pulled target at all times (can be cast while running)
At Level 39, with Energy of Repose up, i get about 280k XP per kill. Plus drops and all that.
LC Pull
This pull is a bit more tricky, as well as the kiting, since you have very limited space available as well as a roaming elite Simunai. You want to avoid aggroing here or even be in the area when somebody else does. She switches aggro awfully fast.
Go from the Agairon Village and run all the way to the indicated Obelisk. Bind there, then walk towards the edge of the cliff and jump down to the ramp. Glide the last few meters and there you are. You can easily identify the spot since there’s alot of people grinding the monsters there, mostly for the 60 Water Buckets to get the 10 Golden Lepharist Insigna per quest (and you can repeat that quest as often as you like !).
Find a good elite (Assaulter, Defender, Assassin), and stay away from the Mages or Researchers. Also stay away from Siminau. Drage the Elite monster toward that little ramp, and kite up- and down the ramp. You can, if the aggro is screwd up, also drag the Elite deeper into the mine, just watch your compass.
Due to the limited space, this is a bit more challening than the KHQ farm, however, on level 39, i got 330k XP
So is this really worth the trouble ?
Yes and No. For one, it takes quite a bit time to kill those Elite’s. Think about XP gain over time spent. While you need about 5 minutes to kill an Elite, ask yourself how many regular’s you could kill in the meantime. If the combined XP is more than the Elite, it’s probably not worth it – unless you’re in for the drops.
It is, however, still a fast way to get XP, and it’s fun.
I’m sure there’s something similar for the Asmodians, but i don’t know about their territories

There is also a log that you just jump on and off. I can show you in-game so you can post a SS of it.
Don’t think i’d consider this exploiting. Whether i slow/root the mob and kite away or use obstacles like this one makes no difference.
However, i want to check on Medeus, Exedil and those bosses, as i think you can also solo them on a Cleric. At least with high MR. So as soon as i got my Miragent’s, i’m going to give this a go.
Hoschi, you know have your Miragent’s, i am sure. Did you try solo-ing Medeus? or any other similar mob?
thanx for all this excellent info!
I haven’t tried solo’ing him, but i know that with high MR it is possible to do.
You probably want to drag him all the back to the Garrison patriol, underneath that bridge, so you can line of sight his AoE and get the Garrison involved on the adds…
